Changes To AirGigs Fee Structure – November 1st, 2019

As of Nov 1st, 2019 we will be changing our fee structure for the first time in over 7 years.

What’s changing

  • We will be raising our commission from 7% to 10%
  • We will now pay back 2% of PayPal fees on withdrawals of $500 or more

This means withdrawals over $500 will only realize an approximate 1% increase from our previous fee structure.

Why the change
Since early 2012 our model has always been “we get paid when you get booked”, and we are working hard to keep the platform free of monthly membership fees. While our commission has been 7%, our payment processor charges us anywhere from 2.5%-5% on every payment we receive (depending on country). We have absorbed these fees and other rising costs for years trying to both keep the commission fixed at 7% and avoid membership fees, but it is not serving our ability to enhance the platform for both you and clients. The end goal of this increase is to improve the AirGigs experience for our entire community.

Looking forward
Before the year’s end we’re planning to have a new jobs area where clients can post projects that you can respond to. We are also working on a host of helpful new features including a revamped communication system, a new ACH payment option, a mobile app and much more.

We hope this change will serve as an opportunity for you to raise rates by 3% (or more) to accommodate your needs within the new fee structure. We believe your services are worth what you charge. We urge you to believe in your inherent talent, experience and value – and charge accordingly.
